James Bay Co-operative Housing consists of 28 townhouses, a combination of 2-bedroom, 2-bedroom with basement, and 3-bedroom with basement units. We work together to build a strong community for our members. Incoming members are selected by a committee of co-op representatives. Housing charges fall below market rates; this is due to our nonprofit model as well as the volunteer hours that are put in by all members to ensure the co-op runs smoothly and affordably. Members are required to serve on several of the co-op's committees, for example the Board of Directors, the Maintenance Committee, the Finance Committee, the Social Committee, the Membership Committee, and the Gardening Committee. All members also meet together for general meetings several times a year. Member participation forms the backbone of our community.
